Meet My Guests – Episode 3 – Fathers: Missing in Action

Hey everyone!  Alright, so we’re rounding the corner here with episode 3 of my series, “Who’s the Man: Generations Speak”.  Only two episodes left in this series.

Now, of course I couldn’t talk about manhood without discussing fatherhood.  In this episode, Donald Pryor and Michael Payne share their experiences growing up without their fathers and the impact it had on their lives.  We also explore the topic of single motherhood and the challenges many Black single mothers face while raising their sons.

To learn more about Donald and Michael, check out the bios below.  And if you want to hear what they have to say, click here.

Donald Pryor

Donald Pryor was born, raised and lives in Roxbury, MA.  He’s a graduate of Bethel Baptist Institute and a licensed minister.

Donald prides himself on being a great listener and loves to talk to people about life, as well as God’s love.  When he’s not taking long walks or deejaying for special events, you can find him hanging out with his wife, Delanie, of 26 years, and their 3 daughters, aged 26, 22, and 19.

Michael A. Payne

Michael A. Payne is a pastor, worship leader, speaker, musician, and songwriter.  He carries a deep passion for people encountering the transformation love of God, and for them to be aligned with God’s heart. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, his experience with ministry began at Beulah Church of the Nazarene, learning and growing within the youth ministry, as well as directing the Beulah’s NYI Choir at age 12.

Additionally, Michael ministered with and directed for the True Gospel Ensemble (aka TGE), under the leadership of the late Pastor David Wood and Gregory Mitchell.

At 17, Michael responded to the call from God to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1996, he moved to Massachusetts and attended Eastern Nazarene College to study Theology.  While in and after college, he worked with and directed several choirs in MA, as well as served as a youth pastor at the Second Church in Dorchester.

In 2001, Michael created a community choir affectionately known as Michael Payne and Redeemed Praise and later the worship ministry called L.I.F.E in 2010.  He would go on to serve as director for the Eastern Nazarene College Gospel Choir, as well as preach throughout the East Coast through conferences, seminars, and worship services.

Michael has not shied away from sharing his own personal testimony of the Lord’s love, deliverance, and power. In 2013, Michael was ordained and served as the Associate Pastor/Pastor of Worship and Arts at the Second Church in Dorchester, MA. As of 2019, he has transitioned to serving as Interim Pastor of Worship and Arts for Kingdom Life Ministry in Raynham, MA; and is currently establishing Align Worship Center in MA.

As Michael continues to advance God’s Kingdom, he does it alongside the two loves of his life – his wife, Diane, and his princess Maliah.
